25 Weeks: woo-hoo!
I’ve become mildly obsessed with nurseries as witnessed my recent postings and the above inspiration board. I figured if I took all the ideas I liked and put them all together then something was BOUND to jump out at me, right? Guess what? I like well photographed rooms especially when they use photoshop techniques on top of it!
That will not help with designing a nursery. And I realize in the grand scheme of things this so unimportant. The baby will probably sleep in our room for the very beginning anyway but I’m fixated.

As as slightly more productive task, I’ve been looking more into the baby carriers: Moby Wrap and Baby K’Tan which I had mentioned before. I’m leaning towards a Boba carrier (on the Babble product list with a bonus recommendation from Renée’s friend) once the wee bebe gets a little larger but as to the slings I’m just not sure.
Reading the reviews people seem to think both wraps can be complicated but I’m about 99.9% sure I could still tie my Project Adventure* harness from the rock climbing rope they give you and after looking at the Moby/Baby K’Tan instructions once 2 days ago I’m sure I could figure it out in about 2 minutes.
SarahB has a recommendation from one of her friends about the Moby which is good but what I keep getting stuck on is that a lot of the reviews on Amazon said that it could be hot. “Hot” is not something we need more of in this non-A/C house in the summer. Perhaps some baby product investigative work can be added to our Audacious Weekend Goal list for this weekend… :)
I’ve also been looking at cribs and stuff and DAMN! I think some are more expensive than our bed and I feel our bed is one thing we didn’t cheap out on. It’s a real wood frame and not from IKEA and stuff. It may be the only such product in our house. Wait. I take that back- our coffee table and dining room tables appear to be real wood and were not from IKEA. There. 3 Items. Ok after going to Target’s website I realize the $800+ cribs I am thinking of are greatly above the norm but still as long as it passes current safety standards, the idea of using my sister’s old crib is looking better and better.
I also like the Arm’s Reach Sleepers that convert into something else when you don’t need them as next to the bed sleepers but I’m not sure if I should be comparing it to something else.
And though I feel like some horribly stereotypical idiot yuppie with all my book reading and intense product scrutiny: a) I won’t apologize for reading and b) I’m just very scrooge-like when it comes to money and want to make the more useful purchases.
Next up to research is car seats. I feel like this one might be most difficult. I need to figure out if the Hyundai has these car seat attachment thingies because it’s right on the line as far as year goes but it seems like there are some that are only good for a short period of time and they all have that underlying “you DO want what’s BEST and SAFEST for your baby, DON’T YOU?! Even if the baby seat costs more than the current value of your entire car?! RIGHT?!” Le sigh.
Maybe I should start watching Teen Mom to feel like I have it together more.
